Homelessness Persuasive Speech - 1217 Words

Homelessness is the condition of people that do not have a permanent place to live, like a house or an apartment. The issue of homelessness is not subjected to one area, but it is a worldwide problem. Homelessness can result by depending upon a countries economy, and their government because the officials often ignores the issue. Manila, Philippines has 22.8 million who reside in the slums, and 1.2 million of those people are children who live by peddling, or begging on the streets, (Castillo). The Philippines is not the only country that has many homeless children that beg to live or peddle. The number of homeless children in the world is unnatural, and by being internationally intertwined we should put an end to homelessness, especially†¦show more content†¦Imagine if a city has a rise in the homeless population there may not be enough beds for the night, which will result with some individuals being turned away. Many of the homeless youth are on the street not choice, and they normally have begged on the street for food just to live. Did you know that unstable homes can vary from couch hoping to extremes like children/youth having sex for shelter for the night? This is the situation that many homeless children on the street must face, if there is no room in the shelters or if they did not get enough food to survive for the day. Understandably, this can happen to homeless adults, but they have more strength to fight back, whereas children/youth who are smaller in structure may not be able to fight back. As a result, there are many individuals out in the world who would love to exploit the weakness of these children. Homeless children can easily be sex trafficked because most of the time they need food or shelter. As stated above, homeless shelters tend to turn away individuals or family because they have reached maximum capacity. Also, some areas do not have enough shelters, so there are many individuals who sleep on the streets at night. Some of the many people who are turned away are children / youth, and a result these children run in packs so that their living circumstances are manageable.
